Anglers Entomology

Up to 90% of what a trout eats day in and day out during the season are aquatic insects. As fly anglers we imitate these aquatic insects with fur and feathers. The success or failure of a fly angler during a hatch is based on either a bad cast or the wrong fly. Understanding what aquatic insects that trout eat is the beginning to the road to successful fly fishing. Anglers Entomology is an in-depth study of what aquatic insects trout eat and how we might imitate these insects on the river. Anglers Entomology will help identify what is currently being eaten and how to know what size to use and how to strategically work a hatch.
